About Kovarus Making a DifferenceMore than 200,000 individuals in the U.S and Canada are diagnosed with a brain tumor each year. Kovarus is committed to making a difference for these individuals and their families. Over the past several years, Kovarus has provided funding and volunteer support to a competitive group of Northern California cyclists with the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) as their key philanthropy. Racing for Research The “Racing for Research” San Francisco based cycling team is comprised of a group of elite cyclists competing in events across the nation, with primary focus in one of the country's toughest racing regions - the USCF Northern California/Nevada district. The team is focused on winning races and raising awareness for the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) through fundraising efforts. Team captain, David Ridder, started the cycling team in 2006 after a close friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2004. Since then the team has partnered with Kovarus and the ABTA to raise money and gain support for brain tumor research through athletic endeavors.
